Romania/Moldova Ecosystem Tour
September 29th – October 8th, 2019
Join us as we explore 2 countries located in South Eastern Europe. Starting in Bucharest, Romania, we will spend 2 days exploring Bucharest, meeting with government, local leaders and local businesses before taking the train from Bucharest to Transylvania.
The train travels through a beautiful mountain range to Sinaia, Romania where we will visit Peles Castle (often used in films such as “A Christmas Prince”) and take in the picturesque mountain village. Next we head to Bran Castle, the fortress also known as Dracula’s Castle before returning to Brasov, home of industry such as manufacturing hydraulic transmissions, auto parts, ball-bearings, construction materials, hand tools, furniture, textiles and shoe-wear.
On October 3rd we head to Iasi, Romania, the 2nd largest city in Bucharest and located on the border of Romania where we will cross into Ungheni, Moldova. We will be visiting local industry and government leaders to learn about the local communities on both sides of the border. Local industries include machine building and heavy equipment, chemical, textile, ceramics, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, electronics, food, energy, building materials and furniture.
Next on the agenda is a visit to smaller communities in Moldova including Soroca and the historic community of Orhei which includes a visit to an ancient Orthodox Monastery with worship rooms built into the caves above the Raut River. Following the countryside tour and a visit to Cricova Winery, we arrive in the capital city of Chisinau where we will partake in the Moldovan Wine Day festivities before meeting with local government, universities and local business leaders.
